The City of Glasgow College’s New Riverside Campus

Trespa, Design, Laboratory

Eaton Timber Solutions supplied laboratory worktops and furniture for colleges at the City of Glasgow College as part of a wider education refurbishment project. The furniture and worktops were designed and manufactured to withstand the specific rigours of practical science environments while maintaining a clean, professional finish.

This was a project where safety, hygiene and durability were all essential - making chemical-resistant lab worktops the ideal solution.

Project Summary

Our scope included:

  • Design, manufacture and supply of compact laminate lab work surfaces and furniture

  • Cut-outs, edge protection and jointing for clean integration with fixed teaching infrastructure

  • Custom dimensions and layouts tailored to the classroom and lab specification

As a leading UK manufacturer, we provided custom worktops and furniture for science classrooms that met technical and educational requirements, including hygiene, resistance to wear, and support for daily student use.

Built for College-Level Learning Spaces

This installation featured:

  • Moisture and chemical-resistant finishes

  • Non-porous surfaces for easy cleaning

  • Strong impact and scratch resistance

  • Edge-sealed compact laminate for long-term durability

These surfaces supported science and technical subjects by offering a safe, hygienic foundation for lab work in a busy academic environment.

Why Eaton Timber Solutions?

  • UK-based manufacturer of chemical-resistant lab worktops and furniture
  • Trusted supplier of laboratory worktops and furniture for colleges and educational institutions
  • Full support from CAD and design through to delivery
  • Compact laminate specialists with sector-wide experience

Standalone laboratory units were manufactured, which then could be arranged in different layouts. They were manufactured using a titanium MFC and a speckled white 16mm Trespa compact laminate top. Sinks were fitted in the factory and hole positions for water and gas taps were pre machined to make it easier for installation. Matching worktops were also supplied to a metal bench manufacturer so that the finish and edge details were all uniform.

Bespoke educational furniture is becoming a growing market for us, as we find that our designs, quality and ability to deliver on time are very attractive to our customers. This product and service are also finding their way into other sectors such as high-end medical manufacturing.

The feedback from the client was that the quality of the product was beyond their expectations.
