City of Glasgow College have recently opened their new state-of-the-art Riverside Campus.
Educational furniture for their laboratories was a requirement for this project. When we became involved deadlines were very tight. Initial designs that were supplied as ideas with line diagrams had to be converted into working drawings for approval. Once these drawings were approved and orders placed, we worked closely with the customer to ensure delivery and subsequent installation were made in time for the opening.
Standalone laboratory units were manufactured, which then could be arranged in different layouts. They were manufactured using a titanium MFC and a speckled white 16mm Trespa compact laminate top. Sinks were fitted in the factory and hole positions for water and gas taps were premachined to make it easier for installation. Matching worktops were also supplied to a metal bench manufacturer so that finish and edge details were all uniform.
The feedback from the client was that the quality of the product was beyond their expectations.
Bespoke educational furniture is becoming a growing market for us, as we find that our designs, quality and ability to deliver on time is very attractive to our customers. This product and service is also finding its way into other sectors such as high-end medical manufacturing.
